LED drivers (constant current sources) and transformers (constant voltage supplies) provide LED systems with the right voltage and current. VYSN offers the complete range: 24V transformers for LED strips, 48V DALI drivers for track systems, Triac-dimmable transformers for classic AC dimmers and dedicated drivers for inground spotlights.

An LED driver provides constant current (e.g. 350mA, 700mA) regardless of load voltage. Ideal for COB modules, high-power LEDs and anything where exact current regulation matters. An LED transformer provides constant voltage (typically 12V or 24V) and the LEDs regulate the current themselves via internal circuits. Transformers are standard for LED strips and low-voltage systems. Rule of thumb: strips → transformer, integrated LED modules → usually driver.
Calculate the total wattage of all connected LEDs and add 20% reserve. Example: 10m LED strip at 10W/m = 100W, plus 20% = 120W transformer. An undersized transformer runs permanently at the limit and has a shorter lifetime. For DALI drivers also consider the maximum number of DALI participants per bus (typically 64).
No, one transformer can power multiple LED strips as long as the total wattage stays below the transformer rating. For longer strips (>5m) we recommend double-sided feeding to avoid voltage drop and colour differences at the end. From 10m run length, separate transformer segments usually make sense.
DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a digital bus standard for controlling LED drivers. Each driver gets its own address and can be dimmed or switched individually. Ideal for commercial, retail and office use - anywhere scene control and grouping matter. For residential use the classic Triac dimmer usually suffices.
